The Sunny Side

Keep on the Sunny Side!
Fall, 2026
The word “side” is interesting. In our 3 demential world objects have (at least) 6 sides which give the object its outer structure and a way of explaining its orientation (front -back, left -right, top-bottom). All of the sides balance each other for structural stability. But when we talk about an Eagles game or an argument, something we want to win, then sides lose their structural element and become a judgement - whose side are you on? One side needs to be better than the other. We can even do this with our bodies - thinking that one side needs to be is “stronger” (ie. six pack abs). For stability we actually need balance in all of the sides - a tight tummy is not going to cut it if your oblique muscles or glutes are weak. Sides have been showing up all fall - which side are you neglecting? Balancing them all, lifts the heart, frees the breath and makes our movement through this world a bit easier.
Speaking of balancing all sides - Please note below the upcoming Psoas & Pelvic Floor Workshop - Supple -Stable - Strong, on November 15th. Feel free to share info about it with anyone you think might find it interesting. Regular students will notice some of the things we have been working on this Fall, but there will be lots of new things as well! Sign-ups have started so don’t wait! Check out my website (which has been up dated!) for more info!

Supple Stable Strong - 2 hr. Workshop
Easeful movement relies on core strength. But what is core strength? We might think we need 6 pack abs. However, the core muscles of movement, balance and stability are less about hard outer muscles and more about supple deep muscles. In this small group setting we will explore muscles and movement in new and different ways, encouraging awareness and supple strength in your often misunderstood creative core.
In this Workshop we will explore:
The Anatomy of your deep core and its impact on the whole body.
Body Awareness: Identifying possible postural and functional imbalances in your body.
The Breath’s Supportive Core Connection, for stable movement and better balance.
Alignment: Learn how your feet support your pelvic floor
The “Fountain” of Youthful movement: Tissue hydration (it’s not drinking more water)
Home Practice: Simple practices to integrate at home.

Lie down in constructive rest pose. Grab sides of mat and pull mat towards feet to lengthen back. Press into 3 corners of feet and lift hips off of floor (you want to feel like a plank from your shoulders to your knees). Feel for glute squeeze around your sit bones. Pulse hips 10 times towards ceiling (little move) by squeezing and releasing glutes.
